Mistress Amy on the cost of being a Pro Domme
Not that you care, but interesting to hear the reality and challenges of a young woman to make a living...
Re: Cost of a session..
Very thoughtful post and discussion here. I agree, one of the most civilized posts in a long time.
A lot goes into my session planning as an indie. First, I have to weed through the serious players vs. the wankers. I never discount anyone who approaches me as a potential client.
I learned a long time ago that the slaves I thought would not show up did indeed show up and would eventually go on to become repeat customers.
The slaves who insistently called and emailed me were sometimes the slaves who did not show up for scheduled appointments.
As an indie I have to pay for my own gear and fetish attire. I play safe. That means, lots of lube, lots of condoms, lots of disinfectant.
My outfits are from Purple Passion and DeMask. My bondage and S&M gear are from the Leatherman on Christopher Street.
Before I even sessioned I spent hundreds of my own money on toys and equipment. I am still adding new equipment to my domming bag all the time.
There's also the cost of programmers, photographers, hosting a website, buying banner ads. Indies pay for this out of pocket.
There's also the cost of gas and tolls and parking. Accomodating a slave's schedule. Traveling from New Jersey to Westchester to Long Island and back into Manhattan all in the same day just to meet clients. An indie domme can work a 14 hour day in 4 different counties.
Throw in the amount of time it takes it to check emails, return phone calls, and coordinate schedules with VERY BUSY slaves who have very busy personal lives. Factor in the last minute cancellations of these busy people and the last minute play requests from people you have seen before.
For every hour I spend in session with a brand new slave, I probably spend 2-3 hours with that slave on the phone and email setting up and coordinating our time together.
There's a lot that goes into the cost of a session that many people don't realize.
If you want to know what you are getting for your money PM the domme outright and ask her how much a session is, what the cost is, and what the session includes for her tribute.
