Lingerie Tutorial Part I - Basic Panty Knowledge I
Since these posts are intended not be overly long, I'm going to break things down so that my writing time isn't exceptionally long and so that I can keep people's interest. Today's lesson will be simply about panty types and materials (cloth type), adornment and other the ridiculously confusing sizing will be discussed in another post. What I will say about sizing is do NOT go by the waist and hip sizing when choosing panties as a man as all men should consider sizing themselves up 1-2 sizes to accommodate your man parts unless you were born with under-average sized male parts. When it comes to panties, you guys are easy. It's the majority of society that has it difficult. I have some added difficulty being a big man in a small women's world. But, there's clothing literally for everyone on this planet and that includes underwear and frilly, sexy stuff. Even big girls like to feel sexy. Big men who like sissy things also like to feel sexy too. I think that is why I do what I do and have the obsession that I have with underclothing of the opposite sex. Outside of teaching you about panties today, I'm also going to tell you to stay the fuck out of Aerie, Pink and Victoria's Secret. Unless you're wealthy, stay out of Soma. The panties made and sold by the companies I mentioned (not Soma) are of shit quality and they top out (typically at XL). If you do the proper size conversion, a woman's size XL panty at Victoria's Secret would fit a man with a size 36-inch waist. There aren't many men you have 36 inch waists. Soma is very expensive and you can get similar quality elsewhere without going broke. With Soma, you're paying for the name. However, if you want a fitting, Soma does fittings for CD's and transgender people. There are a list of rules, but basically Soma will allow you to stay for a 1/2 hour past closing while two judgemental overweight women make fun of the cheap panties that you're wearing and for being fat. That said, the oldest (I'd put her at 70) still wanted to fuck me while she put her panties on me (or so she whispered in my ear), that's when I showed her my wedding ring. I take that seriously. Yes, that's what really happened to me at Soma about six years ago. I got some nice panties there, but they barely fit and I haven't been back. I'm sure that old lady is gone or dead. But there's a Soma not far from here. I've been twice. I'd rather go to Lane Bryant or Torrid if I'm going to specialty retailer. Personally I prefer just going to Macy's when they have Vanity Fair in my size in stock.
Well, onto the lesson for today:
There are basically several main "cuts" of panty available on this planet and each has its positives and negatives. I'll discuss the cuts briefly and then I will touch upon material. For the sake to relation, I will tell you that I have a thick almost 7 inch penis but I'm a grower not a shower. My issue is that I have testicles that are enormous and have a hard time fitting in any underwear, let alone panties. My posts will assume that each guy is normally endowed. If you have a button penis and/or tiny testicles (or you've been castrated which is a new trend in the trans community - keeping the penis but losing the testicles) you might be able to fit into everything, but you are more the exception than the norm. Most of us in this world have penises that, when erect, range between 4.5 and 7 inches with girth not being a significant concern. My issue are my huge testicles. I can't wear a gaff because my balls are just too big.
Here's a little about each type of panty:
Brief: Often referred to as "granny panties" this category also includes hi-cut panties (not to be confused with hipster panties that are now all the rage). Brief panties are the most basic and are the female equivalent to tighty whities - especially when they are purchased in the color white and made of cotton. Brief panties are also the most forgiving to the CD as due to the extra material in the front, sides and rear, there is extra space for your man parts without your testicles hanging out the sides or your penis barely fitting inside the material. Hi-cut panties are basically a cross between a bikini and a pair of briefs with much higher leg cuts. However, buyer beware with hi-cut panties, because of their hi-cut they will often have less material in the crotch to cover your man parts. Depending upon the material you choose, you may be able to buy a pair of briefs that are women-sized that fit you perfectly. For example, Vanity Fair nylon brief panties in size 12 fit me perfectly, but if I get a pair of cotton panties of the same version, I barely fit them as there is little room for stretch for my man parts. Cotton is not forgiving and although it does stretch, it will shorten the life of the panty and before you know it, they're in the trash.
Bikini: These panties also have a few unique cuts to them, but there are basically two types. The first type is a normal bikini panty that has material that covers both the front and rear and the material on the sides only crosses over what would be your bikini line if you were a woman. The other type of bikini panties are string bikini panties - these are the same as the other bikini panties but instead of a bunch of material on the side, there's only a string.
Thong: A thong is a misunderstood panty - especially by men. A true thong has a fit like a bikini up top but instead of having a full rear seat to the panties, a strip (not to be confused with a string) of material goes between your cheeks to avoid panty lines. As a CD, I will tell you that one of the hardest things to do is to get a thong that fits you properly because odds are that you'll purchase 5-10 pairs of thongs of varies makes, sizes and materials (and sometimes at great expense) until you find a pair that fits properly. Sizing up is almost a requirement in order to fit inside of these panties and the material they are made of is crucial to fitting your man parts. For example, if you normally fit nicely into a pair of size 10 panties and you buy a size 10 thong (or in a different panty size detailed by the manufacturer such as Lane Bryant who sizes their panties in 18/20, 22/24 and 26/28). The material you choose may stretch and allow for your male parts to fit. The bottom line (pun intended) is that thongs are to cover the bare minimum to deter panty lines and they suck. I never celebrated the thong. Who the fuck didn't find panty lines sexy? I still look for panty lines in hopes of seeing them - sometimes I'm surprised but I find them on a 75 year old woman sometimes too. Who the fuck wants a wedgie? I'll leave those one to the real women, fuck thongs. I own like 2 dozen of them and I've worn maybe two of them 1-2 times. What a waste of money on a garment that is made of nothing. I don't like g-strings much more. My wife says I have a nice ass, and even she doesn't like me in a thong.
G-String: This is the most misunderstood garment of the bunch but the easiest to explain. A g-string is a thong that has a string back that is usually connected to string sides. If you thought finding a proper thong was difficult, try getting a g-string to fit that wasn't designed to fit a guy. In fact, g-strings are common wear for male strippers and as long as your waist size doesn't exceed 38-inches you can actually buy lace g-strings for men. I recommend that you consider the purchase of these. I do not recommend buying this type of panty when you first start panty shopping as I would put myself at expert level and I fuck this up all the time. As time goes on you'll get a good idea of whether or not you can fit into something just by looking at the panty, the material and the size - but not g-strings - all bets are off. Be prepared to be patient as there's a good chance that what you want isn't even on the shelf and you may need to go to another retailer or order it online. When trying to figure out if a g-string will fit you, look closely at the front panel of the panty; it it's small and the material doesn't stretch, you probably don't want to waste your money. That said, I do have g-string for my wife and every time I wear it I get laid. So, that's food for thought. My g-string isn't a feminine one, but even if it was my wife would probably still fuck me if I wore it and did a dance for her.
Hipster: The new favorite cut of panty among women is the hipster. A hipster is a hybrid between a bikini and a brief. If hipsters were sold as men's underwear they would be called bikini briefs. Hipsters are very forgiving and unless they are made of cotton or are undersized to begin with, most man parts should fit inside without much issue. If you have issues, go a size up. Hipsters do make for good everyday panties along with briefs.
Cheeky & Boyshort Panties: Personally, I cannot stand these panties at all. Essentially, boyshort and cheeky panties are designed to ride up your backside and to be cut extremely close. To date, I have no pairs of cheeky or boyshort panties that fit me properly and I've been trying to buy them for years. I've tried every brand, maker and material type to no avail. No matter what I do, because of the tight lower butt-cut it results in far less room for my man parts and if they do fit in the front, my testicles fall out the bottom. I've even tried sizing up 2 sizes to no avail. I do not recommend these panties for a man unless it's your only choice. My recommendation is buyer beware. Also, it is difficult to near impossible to return intimates so getting it right the first time is almost required. Cheeky and boyshort panties are near identical in design and you will suffer the same drawbacks.
Shaper Panties: This is another HUGE buyer beware warning. Shaper panties are sold in strange sizes that for a woman wearing a size 10 pair of panties may mean that she needs a size 6x pair of shaper panties (or larger depending upon the maker). Also, shaper panties tend to be extremely tight and that can be confining for your man parts. That said, if you're looking to hide your male parts and you don't want to purchase a gaff or a similar device to hide your male parts, a properly fitted pair of shaper panties can do the job. Shaper panties also tend to not have very many sexy adornments to them. I will cover shaper panties in more detail when I cover shapewear.
Crotchless Panties: These are panties with a designed hole at the vaginal opening area so that the panties can be worn during sex. These panties are wonderful to masturbate in as your goods are fully exposed for playing. However, buyer still beware. They make crotchless panties in virtually every cut other than briefs and hipsters. If you buy from a company that you feel comfortable out their sizing, go for it. Otherwise you could wind up like me - purchasing 4-5 pairs that never fit until you find a pair that finally does. The reward is worth the search.
I don't recommend purchasing your panties through Amazon or another retailer for the first few times that you purchase them for a couple of reasons. First, underwear from Amazon's vast array of product offerings are typically mis-sized. So, if you order a pair of lace briefs from Amazon in a size XL, it's possible that their size XL is more like a size L or M because the Chinese don't seem to understand non-Asian bodies. When buying for the first time, it's good to get your hands on the panties and a good up-close look at them to see if you think that they may fit you.
**If you have a CD-friendly lingerie store near you and you lack shyness you can get a fitting for both bras and panties by an understanding employee. You will most likely find such a place at a Ma/Pop lingerie retailer vs. a standard retailer. That said, about a decade ago I spent 2 hours in a Lane Bryant being fitted for every panty type. If you're extra lucky, the woman who fits you gets turned on watching men in panties and fucks you in the changing room - but that's a different story for a different day and it only happened once in my life.
