Two things I've heard about brains I've yet to confirm. ~Brains are in the head of the beholder, and ~Brains are only skin deep.

I don't have any particular wisdom about the private lives of private people. And my #1 all-time favorite movie is Chinatown, despite all of Polanski's heavy baggage. https://xhamster.com/posts/9746302 Polanski's movies are not about *his* life; they're dramatic theatrical creations mostly telling stories about other people. And the actual ART of most 'artists behaving badly' generally involves *only* the artist's relationship to the art that's been created. Their transgressions against others are in a different category of events and a different kind of relationship, as with Picasso. Woody's different, and more problematic. So many of his films are very near his own life and the lives of those around him, extrapolations of them. I don't have a clue if he's done what he's been accused of, but watching Manhattan brings his private life into the experience. And remember the scene at the end of Annie Hall after they split up that shows a play he's written supposedly recounting the events of the movie we're watching with actors standing in for Annie and him giving a badly skewed and biased theatrical recounting of the actual story, heavily slanted in his favor. It was meant to be funny, and it was. Now, sadly, it also shows that maybe his cinematic rendering of events in or near his real life might best not be taken entirely at face value. That's why I nixed Manhattan in favor of Strangelove, which is funny since Manhattan was the movie with the 'strange love.' hahahahaha! : P Hey Novalicious! How many points do I get for this...??? ...aside from NONE, I mean. LOL! : O

So much choice! I choose Le Cabinet du docteur Caligari (Das Cabinet des Dr. Caligari), dir. by Robert Wiene (1920). I love this film especially for its completely crazy universe, both visually and narratively. Moreover, this German movie represents the quintessence of the expressionist movement in cinema, a pictorial and literary movement that I adore! All the sets were designed by expressionist artists.
