Religion and homosexuality

We all know that most major religions in the world dictate that homosexuality is wrong. Why is that? Here is my theory.
Religious rules are often designed to address some societal problem. I believe that the problem being addressed was men having too much sex with men. The reasons for heterosexual sex are obvious - it is needed for procreation. The reasons for homosexual sex are equally obvious - it is intensely pleasurable. I have no doubt that men were sucking and fucking each other long before religion became a dominant force in growing societies. And when societies started to organize around work and productivity, men having sex with each other all day became a problem.
I believe that if you took religion out of societies, homosexuality would be very widely practiced. Once AI takes all the jobs, maybe men will be freed up for homosexual sex once again!

My first experimentation with sex was boy/boy playing and it was fantastic. If I hadn't been influenced by societies false morals, there is no doubt in my mind that I would have been having gay sex even earlier, and definitely more often than hetero sex. Now that I'm old enough not to give a damn what others think, I am almost exclusively into m/m sex, I spent forever with m/f sex and no longer crave it, but now m/m sex is a thousand times more alluring to me.

Pretty sure many ancient cultures practiced it to some degree or another. Most famously the greeks. Think religions tried to make it seem wrong or a problem that only they could offer a solution to? I think its in human natural to enjoy homosexual sex as much as hetero. If there was no taboo to it I'm sure more would be openly practicing it whether occasionally more as primary part of sex life. Giving into gay sex just feels like a primal natural lust, and pure form of male bonding and something I was curious about early on as Im sure others were. Pure pleasure being naked with men, hard, sucking, swallowing, and fucking. Maybe you are right though it was too much of a great thing! I do hope for a shift for more embarrassing homosexual experience

Complex problem that does not only concern religion but all societies. There has certainly always been an exaggeratedly phobic censorship towards homosexuality, which means that the desire to practice it was very strong. The Greeks and Romans were more tolerant than us, even if they lived in a misogynistic and patriarchal society. However, at least today we can talk about it and enjoy gay porn.

It's an interesting point and probably has some truth in there. I think the stigma of homosexual sex is so pervasive in society as a whole it's gonna be a long time before the balance of acceptance could swing the other way. At least technology is helping to spread the joy of gay sex albeit discreetly.
