Making out for Attention

In the dimly lit corner of 'The Library', a popular student bar, the air had the scent of stale beer and the hum of lively chatter. Fiona and Amy sat huddled together, their laughter a bright beacon amidst the sound of clinking glasses and competing voices. Fiona's dark hair fell in soft waves over the shoulders of her blue dress, which clung to her slender frame like a second skin, while Amy's golden locks spilled over her blouse, her figure a study in soft curves that drew glances from across the room.

The bar was a jigsaw puzzle of wooden panels and faded posters, with a sticky floor that bore the marks of a thousand spilled drinks. The neon lights cast an eerie glow over the bottles lined up behind the bar, creating a wall of color that seemed to pulse in time with the bass of the music. The two friends looked as though they had stepped out of a magazine, their beauty a stark contrast to the worn-out surroundings.

Fiona took a sip of her vodka Coke, her eyes scanning the room. "You know," she began, her voice a little louder than necessary to be heard over the din, "I don't think I've ever seen this place so packed."

Amy rolled her eyes playfully. "Yeah, it's like everyone decided to cram in here tonight." She leaned closer to her friend, her blond hair brushing against Fiona's cheek. "I swear, if Mark talks about football for one more minute, I might just—"

Her words trailed off as she caught sight of Mark, her boyfriend, deep in conversation with their friends, gesticulating wildly and completely oblivious to her. Fiona followed her gaze, a knowing smile playing on her lips. "You want me to save you?" she offered, a glint in her eye.

Amy's cheeks flushed pink. "Well, if you don't mind," she said with a hint of desperation. "Just for a little bit. Maybe a... a distraction?"

Fiona's eyebrows shot up. "What kind of distraction?" she asked, a mix of surprise and amusement in her tone.

With a mischievous grin, Amy leaned in closer still. "A kiss," she whispered. "A big one."

Fiona's smile faltered, the surprise etching itself deeper into her features. She studied Amy, her eyes searching for signs of a joke or a dare. But all she found was a look of earnestness that told her Amy was dead serious. The bar's music grew louder, the bass thumping in her chest like an extra heartbeat. The idea was ludicrous, but the excitement bubbling in her stomach was undeniable.

"Okay," Fiona said finally, setting her drink down with a clack. "But only if it'll really get his attention."

Amy's eyes widened. "You'll do it?"

Fiona nodded, her heart racing. "Why not?" she shrugged, trying to play it cool. Inside, she was a tornado of nerves. But she had always been the adventurous one, the friend who didn't shy away from a challenge. And this was certainly a challenge.

The two of them stood up, the bar stools scraping against the floor like nails on a chalkboard. Heads turned as they approached Mark, who was now in the midst of an impassioned debate about the merits of a certain football player. His eyes were glazed over with beer and the fervor of his words.

Fiona took a deep breath, the scent of Amy's fruity perfume filling her nose. She felt the warmth of the bodies around them, the sticky heat of the room clinging to her skin. The music was a pulsing beat in her ears, and the lights swirled above them like a kaleidoscope of colors.

Amy reached out, her hand trembling slightly as it touched Fiona's shoulder. Fiona's gaze locked onto hers, and for a moment, she couldn't breathe. Then, with a boldness she didn't know she had, Fiona leaned in and pressed her lips to Amy's. It was a kiss that started tentative, a question in the air, but grew bolder with each passing second.

The chatter around them dimmed as the kiss deepened. The world narrowed to just the two of them, and the electricity that arced between them. Fiona felt Amy's hand slide up her back, pulling her closer, and she couldn't help but respond in kind. The taste of sweetness and the faint tang of mint filled her mouth, and she realized it was the taste of Amy's gloss.

Their friends' jaws dropped, the football conversation forgotten. Mark's eyes snapped to them, his expression a mix of shock and anger. But Fiona didn't care. For once, she had all the attention, and it was intoxicating.

Amy's hand found its way into Fiona's hair, her fingers tangling in the dark locks as she deepened the kiss. The bar's patrons watched, whispers spreading like wildfire, their eyes glued to the spectacle unfolding before them. It was as if the entire room had been painted in strobe light, and the only color was the vivid red of embarrassment creeping up Fiona's neck.

But the more people stared, the more Amy seemed to relish it. She angled herself so that her boyfriend had a clear view, a smug smile playing on her lips. Fiona felt a strange thrill at the idea of causing a scene, of being the center of attention in a way that she never had been before. The whispers grew louder, the music faded into the background, and all she could focus on was the pressure of Amy's mouth against hers.

And then, as if on cue, Amy's hand slipped from Fiona's hair to her neck, her fingers tracing a line down to her collarbone. Fiona gasped, the suddenness of the sensation taking her by surprise. She didn't expect this. The touch was tender, but it sent a jolt of heat through her body, and she couldn't help but lean into it.

The kiss grew more heated, more desperate. Fiona's hand found its way to Amy's waist, pulling her closer until their bodies were pressed together. Amy's soft curves melded against her, and she could feel the rapid beat of her heart through the thin fabric of her blouse. The smell of her perfume was overwhelming, and it was all Fiona could do to keep from devouring her.

Amy moaned, the sound lost in the cacophony of the bar but resonating in Fiona's ears like a siren's call. Fiona's body responded in ways she had never felt before, and she realized with a start that she was enjoying this, really enjoying it. Her mind raced with questions and confusion, but she couldn't find the words to voice them, not with Amy's lips moving against hers, not with the heat of her skin searing into her own.

Fiona kissed her neck, feeling the smoothness of her skin beneath her lips, and tasted the salt of her sweat. Amy's moan grew louder, a sound of pure pleasure that made Fiona's stomach flip. Her own breath hitched, and she felt a strange sense of power, a thrill that surged through her veins like liquid fire.

It was then that Fiona leaned back, just enough to whisper in Amy's ear, "Are you okay?" She could feel the dampness seeping through Amy's clothes, a testament to the passion that had been unleashed in the crowded bar.

Amy's eyes fluttered open, her pupils dilated with desire. She nodded, breathless, "More than okay," she murmured, her voice husky and thick with lust. She leaned in again, her lips finding Fiona's neck, her teeth grazing the sensitive skin.

Fiona's eyes darted over to Mark, who was still watching them, his expression a blend of shock and something else she couldn't quite place. Was it anger? Jealousy? Or perhaps a spark of excitement? The realization hit her like a ton of bricks.

The kiss ended with a gasp, and Amy stepped back, her eyes glazed with a mix of excitement and mischief. "Thank you," she murmured, her voice a low purr that sent shivers down Fiona's spine. "I'll go get him now."

With a wink, Amy sauntered over to Mark, her hips swaying in a way that was impossible to ignore. Fiona watched as she whispered something in his ear, his eyes flicking back to Fiona before a hungry look overtook his face. He nodded, and the two of them headed towards the exit, their friends looking on with a mix of confusion and envy.

The sudden emptiness beside her was a stark contrast to the heat that still lingered between them. Fiona took a shaky breath, her hand rising to touch her lips, which felt swollen and sensitive. The bar's atmosphere felt charged, the air thick with unspoken words and unanswered questions.

Her thoughts swirled like the cheap booze that had fueled their night. What had just happened? Was it just a ploy to get Mark's attention, or had there been something more? Fiona's mind was racing, her body still thrumming with the aftershocks of their kiss.

Her friends eventually turned back to her, their eyes wide and questioning. She offered them a shaky smile, trying to play off the encounter as a drunken dare.

The rest of the night passed in a blur, a dance of laughter and drinks and music that seemed to crescendo around her.

Wow. . .  I really like this. There is a different feel to the unsettled ambiguity of how it all plays out. But for one brief and intense moment Amy and Fiona were as one melded together in something transcendent.  And I have a sense there will be more than a moment between those two young women again. I sure hope so.  And will Mark have anything to do with it? Who knows? And for that matter, who cares?
