Double standard censorship

within the last day or so i created a blog on here posing a question about if a certain image found on a specific user's profile was a depiction of a violent act or just BDSM. i provided the source of the image in question and let the users of xhamster voice their opinions on the matter. this led to a lively discussion spanning roughly 100 comments, all of which were polite, non-vulgar, non-insulting, and thought provoking.

roughly an hour or so ago i came home to discover that blog has been deleted by this site, however the image in question remains on that user's profile. seems quite interesting to me that the violent image is permissable however a healthy and friendly debate on the matter is not.

this blog is not for a rehashing of that debate, its obvious that talking about it is not permitted. it is simply to inform users on the fact that the site does and will allow violent imagery, but will rapidly censor any attempt at discussing weather or not violent imagery such as this picture should be allowed on this site, especially by a user who is now in a position in which they are an active representative of the site.

so in summation, what we've learned here today is that we should all feel free to post any violent image we want, as long as nobody talks about it. talking about it is not ok.

I know I am late to the party.. But this is STILL going on... Seems you have to have some sort of special relationship with the site MODS to be able to post certain things...

Iìve missed the whole story, but I feel the joke wildhoney has proposed is quite true..

Since I missed out on the original blog in question, I will not comment on that, but rather state that two of the sad things about cyberspace are: 1) That it is possible to erase stuff, even when they reflect elements from the real world 2) That so many people actually do that, when there are things they don't like, for one reason or another...

I can't remember the users name, but I know it was more of a blind rant with nothing constructive to bring to the debate. In that way, it was instantly forgotten.

to octoberdogg : my mistake actually. the last post on that blog was by someone who said they wished they could curb stomp some of the users on this site. though im guessing that pointless hate-filled message wasnt the one you were referring to....

to octoberdogg : about that particular user you mention, in fact you couldnt possibly be farther from the truth. out of respect for their privacy, i wont say specifically why or how (i'll allow that person to do so themselves if they so choose), but i will say this: they were actually the most qualified person to speak on that matter that posted on that blog, and for many, many reasons. as to freedom of speech, its long been dead, especially here. this simply proved that. its definitely a shame, but not in the least bit surprising

Personally, I find the possibility of anyone reporting a blog actually more shocking than the image itself! Mind you, the last poster on the deleted blog appeared to be the kind of ranting extreme "religious-right type" indicative of extreme Republicanism; the type of hypocritical charlatan who wouldn't normally be seen dead with a computer history which includes this site... I could be wrong. But I doubt it. Genuinely sorry to see that freedom of speech doesn't extend to here.
