RIP.....Elmore Leonard

An idol of mine, and my favorite author died last night...87 years young...His words helped shape me into the person I am now...

Elmore Leonard, the prolific crime novelist whose louche characters, deadpan dialogue and immaculate prose style in novels like “Get Shorty,” “Freaky Deaky” and “Glitz” established him as a modern master of American genre writing, died on Tuesday at his home in Bloomfield Township, Mich. He was 87.

to bigirlkazjan : Thanks Jan. He made me think at a very young age. I happened to run into him in New Orleans about 15 years ago, we had several drinks and continued to communicate over the years.

to pussyriot420 : Don't know him either … I'm afraid my knowledge of the canon of contemporary US novelists is less than fleeting. I've read Tom Wolfe and Updiek, of course, and that's about it.

to MasoMutti : I've been reading him since I was a kid. His character development and dialogue are unparalleled...John Sanford is the only author that comes close...in my opinion.

Gosh wat an output. The man was prolific. Oh biut to master writing just ONE book let alone a gazillion.

I read an interview with him just the other day. Now where was that … ? I must admit, didn't know him previously.
