So I am at my land where I built a cabin this summer. It’s rural Oregon near the coast. I am 50 minutes to Corvallis and an hour to Eugene, not much in between. Today, I go to closest store today ( 5 miles) and get a few things.

I am as a dude.

The clerk (an older woman) calls me out in line to comment on my nail polished fingertips, She says “Nice I need to repolish mine”, 2 rural guys behind me in line. I freeze in fear. Oh Fuck! I am found out!

A year ago, I would have slinked away in shame. But no, fuck that!

I said to her, “Yeah, I like that color and so does boyfriend”. Then I turned and smiled at the guys behind me in line. I wish I would have winked too.

Didn’t think of it at the time though.

No, I don’t have a boyfriend at the moment. (wish I did though, any offers ?)

For me this was a great moment. I conquered a small fear.

Their opinions about me don’t matter! Only mine does.
