Member question

For people that incorporate disclaimers regarding universities using their profiles. Does the disclaimer have any effect that would matter significantly it was found that a uni used a member's content?

Xhamster privacy policy clearly states that members should have no expectations of privacy relative to the content of their profiles.

My theory is that the uni disclaimer is an empty threat that functions more as a suggestion. What would the legal basis be?

IANAL but I don't think the profile owners have any authority or jurisdiction to enforce anything like that and if you can't enforce it why say it?

Once you agree to the terms and conditions to join the site you have given up any right to privacy. So the disclaimers mean nothing and even protected material can be accessed by the individuals who run xhamster.

while it is true that one gives up a good bit of privacy on a site like this, I believe the disclaimer is still vilid, not because I include one, but because I am sharing certain information to like minded souls for a particular purpose that does not include or authorize an entity compiling that information beyond that use. For instance, someone is not only free, but welcome to review my profile, especially if she be an attractive lass such as yourself, but I do not authorize use without my consent.

Yep, pretty much an empty warning. Nothing is truly private anymore, online or elsewhere.

Other sites have asked members to remove it because it does nothing for privacy and takes up room on their servers. I do question the ability of those other sites to host any sort of graphics heavy material as I am sure the the total usage of space can be measured in the MB.
