The Tale of Bob & Carol and Dave & Alice

This is an interesting story told to me by four of the original founders of the swinger club here in Texas that Tiffany and I are members of. In a sense, it¹s how the current group got started. These are not their real names of course, but I picked those because of the ancient and horrid movie about swinging. (And yes, that one had Ted, not Dave.)
Bob was married to Carol. Dave was married to Alice. They were friends in their late 20s but had never really spent any time thinking about swinging. They had heard of "wife swapping" and each couple had discussed it among themselves, but only in the sense of "did you hear the story?" not in the sense of "would you ever consider it?"
From time to time they got together. On the night in question, more than 30 years ago, they had left all of their k**s at Dave¹s house with a sitter and were having dinner and playing cards at Bob¹s house. There were, as the story was told to me, a couple of bottles of wine involved. Dave wasn¹t drinking because he had to drive Alice home.
It was boys against the girls playing something (they don¹t remember for sure as they played everything, but probably spades or bridge). At one point after an hour of card play Dave skillfully caught the ladies in a bidding trap and crushed them, costing them their bid and a huge penalty for failing to reach it. The score ended the game with the boys taking the victory. Alice looked at her husband, Dave, with a glare that could kill and said "See if your balls ever get into my mouth again!"
This caused Carol and Dave to turn red, Alice to splutter something about "Did I say that out loud?" and Bob said to Dave "If you ever want to trade wives for a night, or an hour, let me know. I could dig that!" referring to Alice¹s comment about taking her husband¹s testicles in her mouth.
Carol flew into a clearly pretended rage, slapping her husband¹s shoulder and saying "Do I have a say in this or are you just trading me like some used car?"
Bob said "Of course you do." Dave said "I dunno, what tricks do you do?" This sent Carol into another burst of laughter and pretended outrage. "None of your business!" She pretended to snarl. Alice, the tipsiest of the four, said "It¹s no big deal to do it and Dave really likes it."
"Are we seriously discussing this?" Alice asked. "I mean, I¹ve heard about it but we never thought about it."
"If it was just me," Bob said, "I¹d be glad to, but seriously, nothing like that would happen unless all four of us were really into the idea." Glasses of wine were drunk and everyone said something like "I hear it¹s fun but really, I could never do it."
The Bob said, "I have an idea." He shuffled the cards, then flipped through the deck and extracted six red cards and put them face down on the table. Then he divided the remaining cards into four roughly even piles. "Everybody pick a card. A red card means you¹d consider doing a swap sometime and would be willing to talk about it. A black card means you¹d never consider it. Put your card on top of that stack there. This will be totally secret and nobody will ever know who put in what card. If all four cards are red, we¹ll have an interesting conversation." Despite some questions that Bob deflected, everyone complied.
Bob picked up the stack of ten cards and shuffled them. "To answer the questions, the six red cards were there so I would have enough cards to shuffle. We don¹t want to know who picked what." He did what he could to shuffle ten cards, then slowly turned them over one at a time. When the last card fell, all ten were red and so were the faces of the women.
"Well," Dave said, "this evening went a direction I would have never predicted." They started discussing things for real. Both women, it turned out, would suck and swallow. Both women were on birth control pills. Nobody was brave enough to suggest that they get busy that evening, and anyway it was getting late. The two women compared notes and picked the next Friday evening for another "dinner and cards" event. At that event, the two couples became a swinger pack. It was over a year before they brought another couple into the fold, but the club has grown from then and today has over 50 members.
