The more pixels the better. Yes, I believe that servers should be in the budget, but I am not corporate..... Unless one is into nostalgia of grainy, blurring, and marginal video, 1080 is good. On the other hand one could ask for a Betamax for the holidays or look for a "Super 8" projector on the Cyber Monday sales. Living in 2017, Skeuomorph PS: If you open up again, feel free to add me. :)

to High_Definition : If a producer become a competitor of his financers, as Br@zzers, he's doomed, especially if he has a lot of problems with the copyright cause he's a content producer. Even P0rnhub has not the 1080p, because it sells the full HD, offering montly subscritions (or some such) meanwhile Ep0rner is free and it doesn't care about the big producers because they are not financing the Ep0rner site. xHamster is a slave since a looooooong time but it's the third adult site on the world, despite its condition.

xHamster is a seller and a producer, so the 1080p is not available as on other sites and networks.

I think most or all of your wonderful uploads were shot on celluloid so the increase in digital resolution transfer is only limited to the size of the original negative used as 'film' has no resolution. Somebody mentioned that there was no point in increasing the size of a US DVD-Video at 720x480 but that format is restricted and known as standard picture. Blu-ray can achieve 720p and 1080p. Your uploads look good at 720p on a fair size screen. Very nice. If viewers wish to enjoy at a larger screen size then 1080p source will be needed to satisfy. I guess 1080p will arrive here at some point and prepared measures may be in place on the new site version? Thank you for posting this blog.

The threat of losing customers to a competitor can be a great motivator. Perhaps if you started uploading your vids to spank bang dot com where 1080p is supported, it might motivate xhamster to start supporting 1080p as well. ;-)

1080 is available on several other fileshare sites (some even have 4K), so at some point xH has to follow the "industry standard". On another note: Calling xH add-free is a joke! Look at all the uploads from commercial sites running at 5-10 minutes - I consider those to be advertising, and even more annoying than banners

I agree, they should spend some of that cash for the better quality uploads, Today's servers are much cheaper than they were even just 10 years ago.

Would this really be helpful for vintage stuff? IMHO there is no good reason to blow up DVD material to more than the native 720x480 pixels. This would not add any information to the data. Even now I think that some, not many, of the films you upload are unnecessarily large, notwithstanding the fact that you do an excellent job for us all and really deserve to be renamed Maximus ;)

I agree wholeheartedly with GloryDays. This site would be awesome if they allowed 1080p or even 4K. I also appreciate the time & effort put into the uploads as I'm just starting to get into basic editing. Hopefully one day I'll get as good as you!!!!

Perhaps they do it on purpose. They dont want to allow higher resolution to avoid getting in trouble. But you are right 1080p and dolby audio would be awesome. But im happy with what you do, it takes time and energy so therefore im grateful!

to tom_xxx : You hit the nail right there ;). If they would upgrade to more servers to provide 1080p, they would also need to make more cash by adding more and more advertising on their site. Dont get me wrong i also love the pretty much clean and add free xhamster. But on the other hand 1080p is pretty much standard in our times, so upgrading it would push the popularity of this plattform for all the content creators . . . since almost every video recording device nowadays does support this format. But anyway it is and will be a hamster decision.

it's a shame, but xhamster is a clean platform. this is more than you find of many other sites with thousands of unwanted linked popus and forwarding to other stupid sites with no content...... so i love my hamster and shit on other redirecting sites..... have fun on hamster !!!!
