Individuality - Exploring the pleasure of sin...
It accorded to me that since my return to XH, I haven't paid much attention to my post section (how neglectful of me!)
In truth, I wasn't certain I was ever going to reactivate my account. The main reason I stepped away to begin with was to take time out to broaden my horizons, travel, reconnect my mind and find a better sense of self. And I feel confident I have done just that...
Over the past few years I have taken time to explore. Not only new lands and cultures, but also what it is to be human.
I have discovered many interesting things about the people I have engaged with, but also a great deal about myself.
My conclusion is that fundamentally, we are all... Carnal.
Yes that's right folks, as human beings, we have at our very core, a carnal nature. I know!! Shocking right?
This isn't a new discovery, its something I've always known, as I'm sure most of you have. But I know feel I have a better understanding of it.
And this is why I have titled this post "Individuality - Exploring the pleasure of sin"
When I speak of Sin, I don't only mean the obvious - Lust - because let's face it, we're all here because we are lustful lovers!
The other sins I speak of are, Envy, Pride, Sloth, Gluttony, Pride, Wrath... they all play a huge part in the reflection of our personality.
Each one of these (so called) sins either lead to physical, mental or emotional gratification in a profound and tantalising way. Our primal driving force. The things that makes us unique. An individual...
Individuality for me simply means I don't judge. I don't look upon others lifestyle, fetishes, their predispositions...
Being an individual provides freedom. Provides understanding. Provides pleasure.
And I've come to appreciate the importance of individuality.
What does it matter that one person likes coffee and the other likes tea. So what if someone prefers cats while the other is a dog lover? Is it wrong that some people are thrill seekers and others like nothing better than to hide under there duvets?
Excepting others (and ourselves) for who they are, when barriers are flattened and we see our fellow man/womam as a unique individual, some sensational things can occur.
Having a freedom of thought and understanding of others uniqueness is the step towards greater things. A passion for life (because we only get one!)
Judging others by our own standards can leads to discord and frustration within ourselves. A disillusionment. There is, and will always be, greater and lesser persons than ourselves. Acceptance is the key to fulfillment.
Understanding Sin, exploring Sin, embracing Sin, (all of them), is a lesson in patience, of passion and of pure joy.
I recommend a heartily daily dose...
As a closing statement, I feel it only correct that I end with the quote by Jeff Hanneman which inspired this post title:
"Love turns to lust the sensations I've felt,
Exploring the pleasures of sin.
Making the best of the cards I've been dealt,
Adjusting the odds so I win."
