'Faves' Vs 'Content'
It is very often the case where we receive friend requests from profiles with little or no content. And by content we know what that is. Actual pics and videos uploaded to that profile. Where the problem lies is very often people will sign up to a website expecting a 'quick fix' by adding friends and instantly chatting etc. But Rome wasn't built in a day and neither was a good Xhamster profile page. One great asset of this site is to be able to add 'favorites' and these can be any gallery, individual pic or video and often enjoy trawling back through them to find something in particular or just generally browsing content I know I like and then often looking at other content from the original poster.
But these 'Faves' are in no way content for my actual profile page. The way I see them is merely an easy way of storing or saving galleries and videos that I can then quickly get back again to view. They are not my 'Content' they are someone else's content that they have took the trouble to upload/describe/source etc. Now most of us over the years have sourced and reposted pics and vids that we did not make ourselves so doing this may very well be seen as non-original content. But at least it is 'content' in the pics or vids category of the profile page and not merely some 'Faves' that the user has added quickly to gain some more anticipated respect and friendship.
Whenever a random friend request comes through I will look at that profile and more often than not the profile has been active for a long period of time and in that time has not added any content of their own but instead merely a vast collection of faved pics and vids. If I enjoy those pics and vids I am sure during my hours online trawling through this stuff I will find what I am looking for and will save my own faves thank you. I will only look at another profile's faves if I have a special connection and have got to know that profile very well. A random friend request from a stranger that is (very often the case) male, lives in 'earth', has been active for a gazillion days, has zero content and yet has a mish mash of faves I am uninterested in simply doesn't make the grade.
I am in no way as prolific as so many hard working individuals that have fantastically sourced so much beautiful content and added it to their profile or the profiles in which they add there very own beautifully homemade content etc but I hope I at least appreciate, on this site, the major difference between 'content' and 'faves'. Other sites can work very differently and there are indeed other sites where the 'favorite' option is a good source for finding enjoyable stuff but not for me on this site.
