LFF4 Briggate

It was maybe 8:30 when I put my toes in the water and stepped out onto the pavement. It was a beautiful evening and being near the solstice the sun wouldn't set till nearly 10:00. Stood in the doorway gathering courage beside 2 cigarette smoking gurls who were wearing black miniskirts heels and laddered tights, their blonde wigs added to the impression they were on the game.
Waited there for maybe 5mins watching passersby going home from work or stepping out for the evening. They paid no notice to me or my new 'hooker' friends so I turned on my 3" heels and walked quickly around the corner into Briggate and dived up the ally to Blayd's Bar which is in the yard to the rear of the Cosmo. There were maybe 6 straight people sat out front but the small bar itself was empty and there was no music. On reflection it was probably preparing to open at 9:00.
But now I was outside alone and there was no turning back, decided against the Viaduct Showbar next door as I don't like drag acts and crossed the road to the highly recommended Fibre.

Fibre appears to be the most openly welcoming bar for CDs. There was a long queue of regular punters outside but they were waiting for access to the ground floor and I was directed and waved through by the doormen to the staircase to the first floor. Upstairs I found a free buffet and happy hour bar prices, 80%+ are CD and uplifting techno filled the air.
There is a balcony on the first floor where you can sun yourself and look down on the regular customers sat in the yard below. Joined conversations with other gurls and queued to use the ladies toilet for the first time that evening.
Met Gloria from TBirds with her friend at the bar who said they were just about to leave for Smokestack which was also on my to do list.

Smokestack also fulfilled expectations, there is a ground floor bar but we passed straight through and I followed Gloria up the stairs where we found a long windowless room with a dance floor about 10ft (3m) square at the far end.
Far more mixed crowd here, we were less than 25%, lots of young hetero couples. Earned it's reputation as a top soul bar with a great selection of tunes. First time I've had the opportunity to dance full on while dressed, fabulous feeling to step out in heels and feel the hem of my dress swishing against my thighs. Pleased I'd shaved my pits for the first time as my arms pumped the air. This is why I was here tonight.
Periodically took a seat to save my legs and chatted to various couples, lovely to get compliments off the young women about my dress sense and co-ordinated accessories. Particularly liked "wish I could get away with that dress like you", so love flattery. Discussed who we are and why I do it.

The music eventually took a turn and became more funky and less tuneful, maybe there'd been a change in dj and decided it was time for me to cut back to the hotel. Called into Fibre on the way but found the CDs had left and the young gay men had reclaimed their regular first floor territory.
Not sure when I got back to my room but I had sent a phone message at 1:45 whilst I was out, managed to take off my shoes before I laid on my back on the bed otherwise fully clothed and fell asleep.
