I've been travelling across the country for the past month, putting up billboards and promoting a new type of burlesque that has developed into a cult following.
American burlesque is a performance variety show format that was popular from the 1860s to the 1940s, often in cabarets and clubs as well as theatres, which featured bawdy comedy and female striptease.
By the early 20th century, the transition from burlesque to striptease was gradual.
