New Doll head update
Sorry for the insanely huge space between updates but life has been crazy and I am just starting to catch my breath.
So time to fill you all in on where the project stands now. I cast my first test head in straight urethane foam and was less than happy with the results. After some research I decided cast a skin into the mold and then fill it with foam.
This worked well but during the time it took to get new casting materials I managed to store my mother mold poorly and one side of the face got deformed. This will be easy to fix but I thought in the meantime I may as well do some tests.
The day after I started working on the new heads the rain started. I spent about 8 hours pumping water out of my basement. The next day I was a bit too worked over to do any work on the project. So I figured I would do some research on some other materials. Ok so I'm sitting at the computer and...wait for it.
I had a stroke. This is not a reference to how I felt, I literally had a stroke and had to be hospitalized. As crazy as this sound I managed to recover to around 85% in about a week, thanks to modern medicine and being stubborn as hell. Not to worry I am fine now though I have made many permanent life changes.
Now back to the project. Even though the face on the head is warped on one side you can still get a pretty good idea what I'm going for. I'm still not satisfied with some of things about the process I used, but that is what tests are for.
I will be casting more heads soon and testing other techniques. As always I will post my results when I am done
Thanks for having a look
